Shannon, kinda reminds me of the signs I used to see in Florida at a certain spot we used to go to in the Everglades where gators roamed freely. The signs warned people not to allow their children to sit on the alligators, and we asked one of the park rangers if people had actually done that. He told us we wouldn’t believe what people try to do…thus the idiotic signs. We’ve raised a generation of kids not to think for themselves, and it seems even the simplest of things that would generally require basic common sense are impossible for some of todays low information voters.

Jody, thank you for sharing the beautiful tribute you wrote for your father as well! I’m realizing more every day what a rare thing those of us who were blessed with great fathers have/had.

Barbara, I actually agree with you to an extent. Where I disagree is that we think it’s beneath us…at least those of us here at SGP. You are absolutely right that more of us need to be writing about other things. Problem is that most media outlets love to identify those of us on the conservative side as the conservative chicks—therefore, attempting to discount anything we say before we utter a word. It’s rare to see the chick with a liberal slant to her writing identified as a liberal. That said, I’m proud to be identified as a conservative woman, so it doesn’t offend me when they do that…it just is what it is.

This is the very reason our family has chosen to make the sacrifice of keeping our child out of the public school system. It’s been financially very difficult at times, but reading posts like this confirm that we made the right choice!

I haven’t become addicted, though I do go visit the site occasionally. My 14 year old, however, IS addicted.

I think to many in Washington, the “game” now playing is just that — political gaming and posturing. Nothing more. Sadly, it seems like it’s happening on both sides of the aisle.

SO true. Seems heroes are a little harder to come by these days…not of the military persuasion, by any means, but the kind that’ll just do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing. Regardless of the consequences.
