By all estimates, Dinesh D’Souza’s movie, ‘2016: Obama’s America’ was to have had mediocre sales at best. Out in mid-August, it was in very limited release.
That was then.
Long supposed to have been a memory, ‘2016’ is still going strong. Shocking Hollywood, it has expanded in showings and theaters around the nation and has more than doubled its original estimate in ticket sales.
The reasoning for this doesn’t have to come from an Ivy League scientific study. This documentary carries a tone that has more than just conservatives going to see it. Yes, ‘2016’ is beginning to captivate the curious minds of both conservatives and liberals alike.
'2016' is often labeled as the ‘Anti-Obama Documentary’ by the main stream media. When it really should be called exactly what it is: Obama's life story. In fact, much of the movie is told by Obama himself as he reads exerts from his book, “Dreams from my Father.”
D’Souza takes you on a visual tour around the world as he traces Obama’s life steps. Along the way, he conducts telling interviews with family members and allies of Obama and his parents. It is here where you get to see firsthand where he came from, not just in the geographical sense – but in the ideological. D’Souza wisely includes backgrounds on the men Obama claims as mentors, like Communist journalist Frank Marshall Davis. In essence, D’Souza does the job the main stream media refused to do and vets our President.
Here D'Souza talks briefly about the sucess of his surprise hit:
Because this documentary is so straightforward, succinct and free of hyperbole is why it’s starting to appeal and draw more than just conservatives to its showings. While a Glen Beck fan might not come out of the movie with any major new epiphany, just about anybody else with an open mind probably will.
Here are some liberal comments taken from Examiner.com after they watched the documentary:
“Obama fooled me in 2008, because the media didn’t bother to give us this kind of information. I have to let this sink in because it is so disturbing. There is no way I can vote for Obama, and I am a liberal voter.”
Possibly even more telling:
“I didn’t want to know this and would not have listened before. But after almost four years of confusion and bad results from Obama, I am no longer blind. My head is out of the sand…”
If these newly awakened people wouldn’t listen to us before the 2008 election, they certainly seem open to listening to Dinesh D’Souza now.
America needs this movie to stay in the theaters for as long as possible. Those elusive, and much sought after Independents MUST see this documentary. It has struck a chord and is ever so slightly starting to break down that liberal wall of righteous indignation that our late patriot, Andrew Brietbart spoke about.
Truth will always find its way to the surface. Better sooner than later. Make sure you see ‘2016’ and bring as many friends and family members with you as you can.
