Nice read!! One thing I’ve observed is that Conservatives are not obsessed with being politically correct, which makes our sense of humor better because something is always more funny when there’s some truth in it. This doesn’t mean that conservatives and libertarians are not kind or that we are judgmental. Quite the contrary. I’ve found that we can laugh at ourselves and sometimes about others in a “hey, no one’s perfect, so lighten up” way . This is because most of us are grounded in Faith and are eternally optimistic. Always believing that people in general are inherently good. This by default, makes us more fun and pleasant to be with. Kind of like Santa and Mrs. Claus, but hopefully a little slimmer and with more flattering attire ;)
Awesome article and advice! And just what the doctor ordered! I can not even begin to tell you, but I’m sure you all can relate. It reminded me of this quote by Samuel Adams, “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority keen on setting brush-fires of freedom in the minds of men.” Let’s go get ’em girls!
LOL Shannon! It’s all getting so ridiculous, if you can’t laugh about it sometimes, we’d be crying!!
Thank you ladies!! And I agree, the woman who wrote that she regretted having her kids is a sad soul. And Shannon…. I’m sure you’ll come to the conclusion that is right for you. But whatever you decide, don’t be too hard on yourself. We all made poor decisions from time to time, but at least most of us are growing and learning from them. Unlike Ms. Dutton who wrote her selfish diatribe!
That was great! Bravo Dove – and Tami!!
Wow, sucker punching people for fun. That is truly disturbing on so many levels. The growing lack of respect for others and disregard for humanity is startling. I wish there was a quick fix to save these kids. I truly hope it’s not too late for them.
I commend you for teaching in the inner city schools where few dare to go. Hopefully there are some children that see your example through all of the chaos and use it to fuel their effort to better themselves and their circumstances.

Excellent info! We are just about to have a local election regarding our school board. As of now, all candidates (and incumbents) ‘embrace’ Common Core. I sent out a notice to parents, citizens, via Tea Party and local sites encouraging them to learn about Common Core and to engage our candidates has to why they are so in favor of it. It’s my guess, they’ve never been challenged on this issue. Most parents I’ve spoken with had no idea about it as well. I am just learning myself.
Anyway, I am continuing my ‘information campaign’ and will be referencing your article and sources. I plan to write letters to the editor at various papers, and local online ‘Patch.’
One argument I’m using that seems to get people’s attention is this… Our family recently moved to our new area in part for their superior school system. We pay a premium in taxes to pay for the schools. If everything is now going to be so standardized and centralized, for what will we be paying these hefty taxes!!? I know there’s a lot of answers to this, but people around where I live are proud of our schools. If they find out what Common Core is, and the potential harm it can have, I think (and hope) parent’s will stand up. Fingers crossed. Thanks again!
Oh!! Remember to let people know that this issue pertains to people who do not have school age kids too. Because their taxes will be supporting this new legislation. And everything we as liberty loving people do today to save our Republic will be for nothing if big gov’t standards completely take over our schools.

I love that Jennifer! And yes, this moral relativism is hard to communicate and prove b/c of it’s inherent wishy-washy nature. Unless, you know what to look for it can be raining down all over you and most wouldn’t even know it. Sneaky. But you’re right Shannon, I think it’s becoming nearly epidemic in our culture, schools, etc., Which is why we have to keep exposing, explaining, exposing, explaining…
This is just my opinion.. but I think the GOP has done a terrible job at being inclusive as far as voters are concerned. And contrary to what the media says it’s not about race or class (which the GOP as always been the party of true equality) but it has been about ideology. They often banish tea party types and Ron Paul types and anyone that isn’t on board with their go along to get a long ways.
There is enormous missed opportunity within our youth. I was speaking with a friend who works for the Ayn Rand Institute. He works with a lot of teens and young adults. His perception is that they do not like ‘labels…’ conservative, liberal, democrat, republican, etc., And that they are concerned with civil and economic liberties. It seems to me that if we could all unite and get behind our Constitution and have that be the focus, it would appeal to a greater audience. We need to explain to them that the further we stray from our Founding Docs and principles the less civil liberties they will enjoy.
Easier said than done, I know. Great article!!

Great info thanks for exposing what is going on in our ‘death spiral’ states!
