State Coordinator: Valerie Bering

Valerie Bering was born in Baton Rouge, LA.  Shortly after, her Mom and Dad moved to Berwick.  At age 9 they moved to Patterson. She graduated from Berwick High School in 1981. While in College she studied and worked in the field of Communications.  She continued her education by expanding into accounting as a secondary career.  She combined the two Academic Specialties applying them into her carrier field. Valerie’s leadership experience is extensive to include: Numerous leadership positions in Girl Scouts.  While in college she was President of her Sorority, and Vice President of the Dormitory Council. Valerie has been an active leader in her local church.  To include: Council of Ministries, Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Co-Leader of the Church Youth Group, a leader for the church Eagle Scouts and sang in the Choir.

Valerie’s community leadership experience includes: Reporter for the American Business Women Association and Vice President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Morgan City Louisiana.  She also served as Secretary and Vice President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Franklin, Louisiana.  Valerie’s political experience includes: former Founding Vice President of the Bayou Teche Republican Women’s Club.  Valerie is the current Louisiana State Coordinator for Smart Girl Politics.

Valerie is currently the Maintenance Parts Manager/Clerk/Purchaser for a Helicopter Flight School. Valerie lives along the Bayou Teche in Jeanerette, Louisiana with her husband John, 2 Great Pyrenees, Roland and Allie and a Himalayan Parisa.  She has a Step Daughter Stephanie Bering that lives in FL.
