Voters will decide on Sept. 18th whether to raid our Alabama Trust Fund or send a message to our governor and legislature that we want them to make the tough decisions necessary to get our state on solid financial ground. Raiding our trust fund is a short-term fix; political courage requires more.
On September 18th, Alabamians will decide to either raid our Alabama Trust Fund to balance our General Fund Budget or demand that our legislators and governor make the necessary decisions to bring state government spending under control. If the constitutional amendment passes, a total of $437.4 million will be withdrawn from the trust over the next three years which will conveniently “kick the can” past the 2014 election cycle.
SGP is one of the many conservative groups who are publicly opposed to this raid on our trust fund. Files are attached that explain why we are recommending a "NO" vote on September 18th.
Expected turnout will be light so this is truly an election where EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
Take someone to the polls with you on September 18th and VOTE NO!!
DON'T BUST THE TRUST!!
