Are ‘We the People’ Fighting a Losing Battle? I Think Not!

World and national events are changing and happening quickly. However, one thing has remained consistent… the media spin cycle on overdrive.

It’s maddening.

Certainly, there has been real news. Legitimate, tragic, horrible news about savage attacks against Americans. After the embassy killings on September 11th, 2012, there was a pregnant pause from our White House when Mitt Romney dared to speak his mind.

One hearty, forceful statement reminiscent of something called leadership and the media went crazy. So much so, members of the press were caught on open mic coordinating efforts to conduct ‘gotcha’ questions when Romney held a press conference shortly after his statement.

Meanwhile, the list of Obama gaffes and ineptness has been growing by leaps and bounds. But who would know? Clearly not the American populace if most of the major news networks and papers had anything to do with it.

To give credit where credit is due, the folks at Fox News had had enough. Megyn Kelly refreshingly hosted a segment where her panel tore into the obvious media bias.

What’s interesting and downright remarkable, is that even the democrat contributor, Kirsten Powers was clearly agitated by the media bias. And she’s not alone!

Today, we’re hearing talking heads parroting each other from headline to headline about the “video that’s causing all the unrest and violence across the Middle East.” The video, the video, if it weren’t for that darn video!

Really? Are we supposed to be that stupid? It’s insulting.

To add more insult to injury, new poll numbers have been reported showing that Obama is closing the gap on Romney’s lead regarding of all things… the economy! Let’s get this straight; we are supposed to think that with the majority of Americans believing we are worse off today than four years ago, Obama is doing a fine job. We are supposed to believe that with relentless high unemployment, mounting debt, ANOTHER credit rating downgrade, and the world steep in violent anti-American sentiment… we are pleased as apple pie? I don’t think so.

It’s crystal clear that the main stream media isn’t going to become the slightest bit objective and try to scrounge for semblance of credibility. Everything is strategic. No matter the cost, for whatever the reason, the majority of them are in it to win it – for Obama.

It’s frustrating, infuriating and a bit discouraging. I suppose that’s the point, to discourage us into in-action. So I needed to get my head straight and give myself a little pep talk.

The encouraging news is that we are awake, aware, and are fighting back. Social and new media is buzzing with real reports of Obama atrocities and media cover-ups. Problem is, we could be preaching to the choir.

In order to win the hearts and minds of the apathetic with the truth, we cannot be afraid to spread it. That doesn’t mean we have to be rude or even confrontational. But we do have to get out of our comfort zones and engage those we know as well as any new people we meet along the way.

Anything will help. Even a quick (out loud but to yourself) “Wow, these gas prices are outrageous!” at the gas station can spark a “Yeah, she’s right, I’m sick of this too” thought in an otherwise empty head.

In other words, we have to actively call attention and awaken people to reality - because astonishingly there are too many folks sleeping walking through it.

Patriots are coming up with ideas all over the place. One concerned citizen dedicated a blog post about holding the media answerable with “Interview a Reporter Today!” He asks people at Romney and Ryan events to turn the tables on the media. Get out your cell phones and record them in action. If they get peeved, ask them why. Why are they there? What do they plan to report?

In other words… Let them know they are being scrutinized and will be held accountable.

Hmmm, not a bad idea! Contacting and calling out news outlets after their bias reporting should be happening too. Letters to the editor, calls to their producers, and spreading the truth through Facebook, Twitter, email and word-of-mouth must be rampant.

We are all busy with our daily lives. We have dedicated time to campaigns, walking precincts, phone banking, blogging, attending town halls and hopefully as election judges and poll watchers. We rightly ask ourselves, “What more can we possibly give?”

The answer is, “Everything you’ve got.”

Can you see no greater prize at the finish line in November than Freedom? If the media is working overdrive to discourage us, we must work in overdrive to override them. We must be louder, smarter, and more persistent than ever.

We can sleep November 7th
